Listen carefully to A Space Oddity by David Bowie or Chwarae Dy Gêm by the Welsh band, Anweledig. You will maybe realise that major 7th chords are very appropriate when creating a surreal musical atmosphere. And this is also the case with the Gymnopédie by Satie. Notice how, in the Gymnopédie, the 7th chords are also shared between the hands.
